Nails of the Week: Essie Mesmerize

Hey everyone,

I am really working on building my nail polish collection but I stopped recently because I want to use the nail polishes that I have a least once. This past weekend I got a new nail polish from L'Oreal that my sister got for me and I was very excited about trying it but when my nail lady put it on, the color was very opaque and was not that color I was looking for. The color in the bottle was very pretty and thick but the color applied very sheer and i didn't like the sheerness of it. I do plan on doing a future post on that nail polish because I really love the color and I am DETERMINED to make it work. Lol. Since I didn't want to use the nail polish that I bought with me, I was forced to pick a color from the nail salon. I've been going to my nail salon for a year and a half now and this was the second time that I used a color from there. I was very happy that I did because I found a new color that I am in love with - Essie Mesmerize. It's a perfect blue color for spring and I plan on buying that nail polish so I can have it in my collection!!

Wet and Wild Spring Look

Hey everyone!!
The other day I was at Walgreen's and I came across the Wet and Wild Flora Collection. Mind you I had originally gone in there to pick up some items that I needed for the house but as I was getting ready to check out, I saw this pretty package just waiting for me to purchase it - so naturally I did. Lol. What I like about the collection was that it came with a lot product for ONLY $4.99. The set comes with the eyeshadow trio called Flora, a red wine color blush called Mellow Wine and a Fastdry nail polish called Twining Vines - which I really can't wait to do a NOTW post with this nail polish - and a lip gloss called Mow the Glass.

Lets talk a little more about the eyeshadow kit. The colors in this set are beautiful and very pigmented!! There is a matte orange color as the eyelid color, a shimmery iridescent greenish green color that is used as the highlight color, and a dark emerald green color used as a crease color. The colors were really easy to use and great to work with. This palette and this set definitely did not disappoint and I decided to do a look based on this collection. Enjoy!

Nails of the Week: Sparkly Pink

Hey everyone,

Man I've had a VERY busy week but I am excited to share with you guys why I've been so busy. Ruben and I are FINALLY getting married. Ahhhh!!! After being engaged for 3 years, we finally booked a wedding venue and start planning our wedding!! Our wedding is October 20, 2012 and I am so excited:)! Because of the planning of the wedding, I haven't been able to post or upload any videos so I am finding time today in my schedule to do so. Spring is finally here and we can put away our sweater and bring out the shorts and tanks tops and this week nails of the week is inspired by spring. I decided to use a very bright pink color and apply a pink glitter top coat over it. As y'all know, I absolutely LOVE glitter and wanted to use it to get the sparkly pink look that I have on my nails.

Side note: I am not really a big fan of this nail polish. The application was very streaky and after 3 days, my nail polished CHIPPED so I decided to return the nail polish:(.

Nails of the Week: Butter Scoundrel and Sally Hansen Big Money

Hello there lovely people,
This week for my nails of the week, I decided to keep it simple and add some glitter to my ring finger because y'all know how much I LOVE GLITTER:)!! I was going through my nail polish collection and was trying to figure out something cute yet simple to put together and these two colors just came to me. I've had Scoundrel in my nail polish bin for quite sometime now and never used it - which is soo crazy because the color is AMAZING. Scoundrel is a purplish mauve colored nail polish that looks great on any skin color. After searching for something to pair with it, I saw Big Money staring at me and saying "Pick Me, Pick me" (lol...my nail polishes so speak to me from time to time:)) and I thought it was a perfect pair. What I like about Big Money is that it has some purple fleck's in the gold glitter that stand out when paired with the purple:).

Viola Davis 2012 Oscars Look

Hey ladies,

The Oscars was a couple a weeks ago and there was someone on the red carpet that looked ABSOLUTELY gorgeous and that was Viola Davis. Her make-up was amazing and her dress was stunning!! I love how she decided to ditch the weave and go all natural, which made her outfit that much more fierce!! I decided to recreate the look and I hope you guys like it:)!!

Nails of the Week: Polka Dots

Hey everybody!!!
I hope everyone is having  a great week so far. I've been soo busy this week that I haven't been able to put up my nails of the week post but I figure better late than never - right?! Lol. I am loving polka dots and I was inspired to do this look after seeing this girl at the store with something similar on her nails. She had all her nails painted pink and had white polka dots. I asked her what did she use to create the white dots and she told me about the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen. I thought was a genius idea because it was an easy way to draw the dots on without a lot of hassle. That had me thinking about how I was going to do my nails this week. So I pondered....and pondered....and pondered some more until I came up with this idea: PINK and WHITE!!! I applied two coats of OPI Strawberry Margarita and two coats of OPI Alpine Snow on every other nail and Barielle Ultra Speed Dry Manicure Extender to make the nails dry faster. Once the nails are dry, use the SH Art Pen in White and Hot Pink to draw on the dots. Give them a few minutes to dry, then apply the top coat to create this very fun nail style!
